Today marked the last day of our 3
week ride through Ontario. It was fantastic to know that today we would finally
be leaving this wwwwiiiiiiidddddddddeeeeeee province and entering another.
Since Louise and I began early it was quiet on the roads leaving Ottawa which was nice because I could look around and not be anxious about too much traffic. To leave Ottawa we took the Rockcliffe Parkway which was a really nice road along the Ottawa River. Soon after we found ourselves on the ferry crossing the river, heading to Québec.
The point at which we entered Québec wasn’t a popular area and so there wasn’t a showy “Welcome to Québec” sign; but there was still a sign and I happily took my picture underneath it :)

For lunch Louise and I found a bench
in a small town where we watched the traffic and people go by. There were so
many motorcycles that drove past and some of them were pretty extravagant; I do
not think I have ever seen so many people out on motorcycles in one day before.
When we reached the town of Montebello we decided to check out Chateau Montebello which is a massive log cabin built in the 1930s with 10,000 logs and 500,000 cedar shakes. We went inside and I felt incredibly naked in my cycling gear because it was quite a classy place; I felt like such a tourist but it was definitely worth the visit.

We met up with Gee and Larry at the Chateau and cycled with them for the remainder of the ride. Before we reached camp we stopped for 99 cent soft ice cream, yum yum :)
It was a relief to make it to camp as it had been a long day, but it had been an enjoyable day, especially since I accomplished another province; only 4 more to go! :)
