Nestleton to Carrying Place, 137km: Haircut anyone?

Today was another beautiful ride. I was getting more and more excited because tomorrow I would be cycling home! As a result I figured I needed to look a bit presentable when I saw my family so I decided it was time for a haircut.

In the town of Nestleton I found a hairdresser and off I went, abandoning Louise in the face of vanity :) It felt so great to have my haircut because it was starting to wisp out from my helmet, giving me the appearance of wings :P

Before Louise and I reached Nestleton we saw Gee and Larry had stopped at what appeared to be a western themed village called Docville. It was incredibly random. There was an inn, saloon, post-office, stable, the works. What was creepy was there was an image of a skeleton in one of the hotel windows and in an old-fashioned car there was a skeleton in the backseat. We later found out the individual who owns the place lives in the hotel, drives around in the car with the skeleton in the back, and hosts Halloween events and weddings. Interesting place, but definitely weird.

The route took us through the towns of Port Hope and Cobourg which were lovely. They had signs saying “Welcome Cyclists” which was great to see. We followed the waterfront trail which was absolutely amazing. The waterfront trail is such a great cycling route, taking us along Lake Ontario which was spectacular.

Near the end of the ride, Mike, Louise, and I stopped and sat on a beach near Wicklow Beach Park. We just sat there for half an hour, looking out onto Lake Ontario, simply relaxing; at that moment it truly felt like we were on holiday.

When we reached camped I found out I was not the only one who thought it was time for a haircut. It was funny because none of us mentioned that we wanted to get our haircut and yet a group of us decided it was time on that exact same day...life is funny :)
