I did not do much on this rest day. The camp was located on
the outskirts of the city and thus heading to downtown required a taxi or
cycling over 10km. A rest day to me became a day I would avoid the bicycle if
all possible so that my body parts could recuperate. As such, investigating
Regina did not happen. Rather, I cleaned Paula and did laundry which was always
a bonus. This trip made me greatly appreciate the gift of clean clothing.
We were close to a shopping centre, however, which included
stores such as the Superstore, Walmart, and Bulk Barn. I walked to the centre
to purchase food for dinner. Grocery shopping felt so odd because the lifestyle
of the tour was quite different from that of my lifestyle prior to the tour.
The simple act of grocery shopping seemed surreal because the tour distanced me
from these average daily activities. It was a neat realization.
Soon enough I was getting ready for Part 5 of the tour. I
dubbed the upcoming segment as the "week of dread" because it was a 6 day segment
with three century rides (160km), the first of which would be the first day of
the segment and the remaining two would be the last days of the segment.
However, my attitude was to take it day by day and simply go riding :)
